I ran at the BYU track. it is fast. I broke my PR by alot and my new one is 11:31.5 it is a fast track and running with some high school runners helped but i got a bad gut aik for awhile. My dad says this is a great effort

I also won 3 field events. Im very happy I broke the state record for my age group in the javelin throwing 100 feet and 7 inches, got a PR in long jump and was ok in shotput but i did that after 3000 run. I couldnt do other races because Friday I had school and had 5k saturday

This is a very good starting speed level. For a comparison, at the age of early 12 (about 12 years and 2 months) after about 8 months of consistent training I ran 11:08 in my first 3000 race in Moscow on a track that was only 492 feet above sea level (I used the Course Tool to find that out).

I think your Magna 5 K was a combination of a bad day, and the fatigue from this race. You should be able to go under 20 this year without problems.

For your training - run at least 2 miles every day 6 days a week even if you are playing other sports but no more than 4. Easy pace, do not force it, run relaxed. Do it throughout the year. This will help you duplicate what Kenyan boys your age are doing by running to school and back and/or running field errands.

Diet-wise - eat healthy natural foods, stay away from processed junk. Do not try to rely on the young body's ability to rid itself of junk. It may work for a few years, but you'll end up with bad habits for the rest of your life at the very least.

Sleep-wise - make sure to get plenty. Going to bed early is the key + naps when you can.
